The heart of Michel’s mission was the children in Afghanistan. Michel was dedicated to doing what he could to protect them and save them.

Prior to joining the military, Michel was an assistant game warden for one season. He liked to fish, hunt and to be outdoors. He enjoyed helping people and spending time with his family and friends. He was a dynamic person, who loved to joke around and have a good time.

While in Afghanistan, hardly a day went by that he wasn’t in contact with his family. He found the separation difficult.

Michel was about helping people and when a volunteer was needed, he always stepped forward.

Michel was proud of his hometown of Rivière-Rouge, a small close-knit community of 4,500, and his hometown was proud of him. Rivière-Rouge hosted a going away party for Michel and another local soldier and the mayor presented them with a flag of the town. Michel flew the town’s flag at the Kandahar base.
